For those who have food allergies, intolerances or any dietary requirements, we can cater for you!
In our Code of Practice, our food allergen policy states our commitment to reducing the risk to members and visitors with regard to the provision of food and the consumption of allergens in food that could lead to an allergic reaction.
There are 14 allergens to be aware of:
- Celery
- Crustaceans (shrimp, crab and lobster)
- Eggs
- Fish
- Lupin (included in some bread, pastries, pasta and biscuits)
- Gluten (wheat, barley, rye and oats)
- Milk
- Molluscs (clams, mussels, oysters, squid, and snails)
- Mustard
- Peanuts
- Sesame
- Soya
- Sulphites (included in processed foods - those with sensitivity should avoid high-sulphite items)
- Tree Nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios and macadamia nuts)
There are many procedures put in place at TUCO to ensure the allergen policy is met, whether that's suppliers notifying members of any changes/substitutions to orders or alternative brands are purchased, there will always be communication between members to make sure allergen ingredients are checked.
We are also in partnership with the Anaphylaxis Campaign to provide resources for students with allergies, including a dedicated "Preparing for and Managing your Allergies at University" guide.
If you’re ever unsure about ingredients, allergens or dietary requirements, please speak to a member of staff in the catering outlet before ordering. They’ll be happy to help and point you in the right direction.
We do our best to make sure we can cater and accommodate all, so everybody can sit back, relax and enjoy some delicious food together.
